preparing the ammo

So i've been reading the "life and teachings of Jesus" 2 week track in my student Bible. i had never utilized them before. anyway. i wanted to share a little something

Mark 9: A day in the life of Jesus

Jesus' ministry in the second part of Mark was to teach the disciples rather than to heal and teach to crowds.
in short, what i got from Chapter 9 is that we as Christians can't always be serving without also being in the Word, in the teachings.  often times i serve and serve in church or fellowship and forget about my own relationship with God.  i get so caught up with others' lives.  i suppose this sounds more like something that would come out of reading something about Jesus going off to spend time with God...but this is just what was sparked in my mind as i was reflecting on the passage.  it can  be taken from many different angles, and this is the approach i took.  it's raw and unedited.  i could have drawn out my train of thought and filled in the holes better, but what would be the point of a blog.  but i digress.

wendy wu homecoming warrior

so i wrote part of my Chinese Personality final on the Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior website...today i was able to watch the entire movie.

the line that surprised me "i want to be a Chinese American Family" <smile> --the father.  as he talks to the mother...basically they grew up VERY American, resenting their Chinese ancestry.

i could have more to say about the movie...but i don't want to right now.

walking the town

it's quite an enjoyable thing to be able to walk from your house to the bank and a crepe brunch.  or even to drop off your car at the shop and then walk home. this summer i've been able to experience both already.  i think that if i was ever in a rush to get somewhere i wouldn't WANT to walk, but if i had to i would.  i discovered that i live EXACTLY one mile from the shop where i took the car.  yesterday i walked it...it took just under 20 minutes! today i drove it and it was 1 mile down to the tenth.  one more minutes and i would have been in a different city! i suppose the walk made me appreciate San Lorenzo more. not exactly urban, but not completely suburban. and as i was walking i COULD have eaten a donut, or fish and chips or gone to starbucks! that's pretty awesome.

anyways. i'm gonna try to figure out how to keep this house clean...i cleaned every room that is not a bedroom and murphey's oiled the living/dining room and kitchen! it felt good to make it clean!

2 projects this summer.
1-simplify my life (getting rid of unecessary THINGS)
2-start my quilt. =)

where ya from?

where are you from originally?
Regis & Kelly.

so i'm finally home and able to just relax for a day. i'm watching Regis & Kelly. they have the champion from some math thing.  his name is Kevin Chen.  so he comes out and Kelly asks "where do you come from originally?"
uh---

by the way he's from Texas.

please go with me as i get a little sociological. or--something.

why do you include the "originally"?  was that to find out if he was from China or something. do i do that to people?  maybe when i'm in SF and i ask a person where they live...and they say like "Mary Park"  and then i might add where are you from originally? and they say..."Orange County"  (that's from a Supertones song...)
